Troops foil kidnap attempts, neutralize terrorist, reunite victims in Borno

Nigerian Army troops engaged in counter-terrorism operations in the North East and North West regions achieved significant success on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Their actions led to the thwarting of multiple kidnap attempts, neutralization of terrorist threats, and the heartening reunion of rescued victims with their families.

In Borno State, responding swiftly to actionable intelligence, troops encountered ISWAP fighters in Kulukawiya Village, Nganzai Local Government Area.

The engagement resulted in the elimination of a terrorist and the confiscation of a loaded AK-47 rifle.

Pursuing the fleeing terrorists, the troops successfully rescued a kidnapped child, who has since been joyfully reunited with his father, Alhaji Musa.

Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, troops promptly responded to a distress call from Agunu Dutse Village, Kachia Local Government Area, where residents were under siege by terrorists.

Through a swift search and rescue operation, six hostages, including two women and four children, were safely rescued and reunited with their families, unharmed.

In a separate operation in Kaduna North Local Government Area, troops, acting on intelligence, engaged terrorists in Amale village. With the collaboration of local vigilantes, the troops compelled the terrorists to abandon their firearms, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a home-made gun, and a machete.

The successful operations underscore the commitment of Nigerian Army troops to ensuring public safety and combating terrorism across the nation.
