[Press Release] In a significant operation aimed at maintaining peace and security in Taraba State, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized five violent extremists, thwarted kidnapping attempts, and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
Acting on actionable intelligence regarding the extremists’ plan to abduct church members returning from a programme in Wukari on the Tor-Tse and Takum road, the troops from 93 Battalion deployed in Wukari promptly and decisively responded.
They tactically positioned themselves and awaited the extremists and insurgents in the early hours of April 2, 2024.

Engaging the extremists in a fierce confrontation, the troops successfully neutralized four of them and recovered two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action rifle, and two AK-47 magazines.
Furthermore, on March 27, 2024, troops on patrol around Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government Area encountered suspected violent extremists.
Responding with superior firepower, they neutralized one extremist and seized one locally fabricated FN pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one mobile phone belonging to the criminal.
This operation underscores the unwavering commitment of 6 Brigade to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, thereby fostering a safer environment conducive to business activities.
We urge the public to continue supporting the military by providing timely and credible information regarding any suspicious movements or criminal activities within the state.
