Uncertainties surrounding the participation of Osun United in the 2020/2021 Nigerian National League (NNL) have been put to rest as the club has finally secured a new slot to play in the league.
This was made possible following the express approval of fund by Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, after months of anxieties by the supporters and fans of the club.
It would be recalled that the inability of the Osun United FC to financially back up the acquisition of Collins Edwin Sports Club slot last season made the management of the Lagos-based club to withdraw their slot from the Omoluabi Giants and sell it to an Akwa Ibom-based football club, One Rocket.
Meanwhile, the Sports-loving Governor Oyetola, after meeting with the Pillar of Osun United, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, together with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports, Aremo Gboyega Adelabu, last weekend, approved the required fund to pay for the slot and complete the registration.
With this, Osun United will be among the 42 teams that will take part in the abridged league format, which is expected to begin next month.
The management of the club, under the leadership of Chief Ademola Adesina, appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the Pillar of Osun United, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, Ministry of Youth and Sports under the Commissioner, Mr Yemi Lawal and the Special Adviser, Aremo Gboyega Adelabu, the House Committee on Sports and the Sports Council, supporters and fans who all contributed to the successful return of Osun United to NNL.
The management therefore promised to do the needful to take the team to an enviable height and not to disappoint the people.
