FCT Minister says activist “fa fa foul” in “ordinary” NDC race, claims data-talk doesn’t win elections
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has mocked activist-politician Aisha Yesufu over her failure to clinch the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, FCT senatorial ticket, saying she can only “speak grammar” but cannot win elections.
Wike made the remarks Saturday at a luncheon for candidates of his “Rainbow coalition” in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
—“Ordinary NDC primary, what happened?”—
“There’s one woman who said Wike is an appointee of government and that she has no business with appointees. You speak grammar, speak grammar,” Wike said.
“Ordinary primary of NDC, not APC or PDP, just ordinary NDC, what happened? She didn’t make it.
“It’s easy for people to talk. When they enter those media houses, they begin to churn out data from nowhere. Now, the time for data has come. What happened? ‘Fa fa foul. It didn’t work. If e didn’t dey? E didn’t dey’,” the minister added.
Wike’s jab was in response to Yesufu’s past criticism of him as a government appointee she had “no business” with.
The FCT Minister has repeatedly dismissed critics who rely on media commentary and “data”, insisting that electoral victories are the true test of political relevance. Yesufu’s loss at the NDC primary has now become his latest talking point.
The Rainbow coalition luncheon in Port Harcourt was organized to rally support for Wike’s political structure ahead of future elections.
