Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and immediate past Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, debunked speculations of their planned defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The speculations had become rife after their visit to President Bola Tinubu.
They both denied any plans to cross over to the APC while fielding questions with newsmen, who had intercepted them with one of former Governor Wike’s favorite songs: “enye-ndi-eba, enye-ndi-eba, enye-ndi-eba enye-ndi-eba“, after their meeting with President Tinubu, which also had former Delta State Governor Chief James Ibori on attendance, on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
Responding to a question on why they visited President Tinubu, both Governors, who were arrow heads of the rebel G5 PDP Governors that battled Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar over his support for ersthwhile PDP Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and ensured that President Bola Tinubu and APC won their respective states, Oyo and Rivers in the February 25 Presidential election, said that they were in Aso Aso Rock Presidential Villa to Express solidarity with President Tinubu band assure him of their support, especially fo recent emoval of subsidy from petroleum products.
They noted that the fuel subsidy removal was a difficult decision which was affecting everybody, the President still has a country to run and while debunking speculation that one of them had made it to a yet to be released ministerial list, stated that as Nigerians, they had come to tell President Tinubu that he’s doing well so far and Nigerians are happy with him.
