Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai-Mala Buni has said the newly-approved Fika/Gadaka water transfer project by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) would solve the perennial water problem faced in parts of the state.
Buni, who described the project as a strategic intervention to solving the perennial water problem in parts of Yobe State, said in a statement on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed that: “The government and people of Yobe state specially appreciate the federal executive Council under President Muhammadu Buhari for this critical intervention which means so much to us as a government and people.
“This intervention would compliment the efforts of the state government in providing the water needs of our people.”
He added that: “The intervention affords us with the opportunity to focus on other areas to provide more infrastructure to our people.”
The governor said as a state in the Sahelian region, the issue of water was critical and challenging.
He promised that his administration would continue to partner the federal government and international development partners to provide adequate and safe water to the people.
He also assured the Federal Government of the support and cooperation of the people and government of the state for successful execution of the project and all other interventions.
