In a decisive raid targeting terrorist networks, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) successfully neutralized a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and destroyed terrorist camps in Ikiyayo Forest, Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State.
Acting on credible intelligence reports, the operation was launched in the early hours of July 7, 2024.
Brave troops of 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B OPWS swiftly moved into action, targeting terrorist hideouts and camps.
During the combing of the forest, the troops encountered terrorists, engaging them in a heavy gunfight, which led to the neutralization of one terrorist.
Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Additionally, multiple camps used for planning and executing attacks were completely destroyed.
“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to ensure the peace and security of citizens’ life and property.
“The public is urged to continue supporting these efforts by providing timely and accurate information on suspicious activities of terrorists and criminal elements.
“Together, we can defeat terrorism and build a safer society for all,” the Army said.
