The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a 31-year-old trader, Clinton Anigboro, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attempting to defile his neighbour’s daughter.
The defendant, who resides at No.15, Baale St., Apata, Ayobo, Lagos, is standing trial on a one-count charge of sexual assault.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in October at his residence.
Ademigbuji said that the defendant dragged the victim, a 14-year-old girl towards the backyard to sexually molest her.
According to him, the defendant fondled with the victim’s breast, but she pushed him down and ran away.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 262 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A Odubayo granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Odubayo adjourned the case until Dec. 18 for mention.
