President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has swept the APC presidential primary in Rivers State, polling 280,082 votes with no votes recorded for his challenger Stanley Osifo.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who served as State Collation Officer, announced the result on Saturday and commended the APC leadership for what he called one of the most organized outings the party has had in recent times.
According to Fubara, the APC had 297,068 registered members in the state, with 280,082 accredited for the primary. All accredited members voted for Tinubu.
“I feel that this process has recorded one of the most organised outings of our great party in recent times,” Fubara said. “The only reason it came out this way has to do with good planning. In all, I want to say that I’m really impressed with the process.”
After going through the figures from the 23 LGAs, Fubara said he could certify the results as true, correct, and accurate. He added that the report would be sent to APC headquarters in Abuja for formal declaration.
Fubara said the peaceful and seamless conduct of the exercise was down to good planning by the party.
