Friends and Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, have disclosed the identity of the man who reportedly slumped and died in Niger State Government House in Minna on August 3, 2025 as Greg Ossai Ozegbe.
Niger State Governor Umaru Bago has also commiserated with the wife of the late Architect Ozegbe. In a video clip of his meeting with Ozegbe’s family member, Governor Bago was heard sympathising with Ozegbe’s wife and others, and explaining efforts made by him to undergo a nose surgery to no avail [this was a strongest hint of possible causation factor of death]
An initial report by a security and counter insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, which THE CONCLAVE culled and published on August 4, 2025 had said his identity had yet to be known as of the time the Police confirmed his death.
A nessage by an unidentified individual, which circulated on WhatsApp read: “It is with deep heart that l share the passing on of Greg Ossai Ozegbe. He passed on in Minna, Niger State this morning. May His Soul Rest ln Peace (Amen). May God forgive him of his shortcomings (Amen).
“Gregory Ozeigbe was chairman CEO of Castle HMG Hospitality, the project consultant to Niger State government on the minna Hilton 5 star hotel project.
“He was well known in Niger as a contractor since Gov Kure’s regime
“He was staying as a guest of the state government supervising the 5 star Hotel project and was not a personal guest of Mr Sammy as claimed.
“He was an accomplished consultant to the Hilton group, worldwide.
“He was 69 years old and graduate of Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University [ABU] Zaria.
“He had a feverish streak and he himself took his phone and immediately contacted Doctor Bala Waziri, the CMD of the IBB Specialist Hospital, who was well known to him.
“By the time Dr Bala Waziri arrived at his Lodge 30, minutes later, he was in coma and was rushed to the IBB hospital immediately, but died on getting to the hospital due to suspected heart attack.”
●》Significant tribute, deeply emotional by Olatunbosun Okpeseyi
● THE GLORIOUS EXIT OF AN ICON.
When cowards die, there are no comments seen, but heavens themselves blaze forth at the deaths of princes.
These words, penned by the legendary literary icon William Shakespeare, resonate deeply as we ponder the passing of Brother Greg.
No doubt, he is gone but not without signs, testimonies, and sentiments of disbelief or wishful thinking of Nature’s possible reversal of his death.
Alas ! the night became silent, Bro. Gregory Ossai Ozegbe has gone to rest. The master of the music box is in deep sleep in peace, not to return again, to the Games Rooms, Wednesday conviviality at Yoruba Tennis Club, where his bosom friend and buddy; hold forth as Cordinator. Weep Not Child, God knows best, we are pencil in hands of our creator, may be our first and most comfortable line of consolation. Yet, can there be sorrow without pain, or joy without laughter?
Rather than cry over your death, we will lift our souls to God in praise, worship, and awe for the wonderful soul God gave you and the opportunity granted us to have met and seen you in action.
Paga! Your passing leaves us in shock and grief. “Rather than harbour pain over your death, we will focus on the legacies of love, joyful life, and brotherhood that you shared and nurtured with superlative tales and sojourn in life. Your farewell message to us was crystal clear beyond the happy hours when you memorably hosted the Apex Club House of Lagos meeting in June 2025. It was a testament to your leadership, vision, and strength of character, which were outstanding until your last call. You showed us that life should be lived with love, hard work, and honour.
To say the least, your passing is a devastating blow, yet your legacy is soul-lifting and worthy of emulation. Your impact on countless lives across the world will be remembered for generations to come.
Brother Greg, you were a leader in friendship, a warrior with the spirit of a lion, and a caring father figure. Your visible “Ubuntu values or Ọmọluwabi ethos” selflessness, discipline, and conviction inspired many.
Farewell, Brother Gregory Ossai Ozegbe! You will be sorely missed on earth and celebrated in high heavens. May God uphold your family; grant your gentle soul peace and rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Our deepest condolences to the entire family, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Grand Patron, Patron, Exco, and distingushed members of The Apex Club House of Lagos.
“Ọjọ ajinna sira wọn o.”
