President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of Foreign Affairs, replacing Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar who resigned to contest the 2027 elections.
Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the changes in a statement Wednesday night.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu steps up from her role as Minister of State in the same ministry.
Tinubu also nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.
Enikanolaiye, from Kogi State, is currently Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
A career diplomat with over 30 years in Nigeria’s foreign service, he served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
The President said the appointments are aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s foreign policy for “greater efficiency, strategic engagement, and stronger global partnerships.”
Tinubu congratulated both appointees and charged them to promote Nigeria’s national interest, drive economic diplomacy, foster regional stability, and protect Nigerians at home and abroad.
