Three men appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday over an alleged N11.4m fraud involving the failed sale of a Toyota Camry.
John Zinsu, 43; Koleoso Olamide, 45; and Oyinlola Saheed, 37, were charged with conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences, and stealing.
Prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere told the court the trio allegedly deceived a complainant identified as Idiahi into paying N11.4m for a grey 2013 Toyota Camry that was never delivered. She said the offences were committed within the Yaba Magisterial District.
According to Ikhayere, the defendants conspired with others still at large to collect the money under the guise of selling the vehicle. After receiving payment, she said they failed to provide the car or refund the money and instead converted the funds for personal use.
The prosecution said the offences contravened Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. All three defendants pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted each of them bail at N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to June 30 for mention.
