As Edo State engages on another march towards a change of leadership in 2024, it possesses a great hope for the state and its citizens .This is so because, it is a clear time where the people of Edo State shall once again be democratically allowed and empowered to determine who leads the state from 2024 till another four years.
It is an understatement to state that Edo State, in the last 7 years has witnessed an abysmal and disdainful performance by the sadistic and fumbling Governor, whose only interest has been proven to be unnecessary engagement in endless and absolutely worthless crisis, bothering on his morbid political quest for maximum power, massive diversion of state resources towards the satisfaction of his callous accumulation of wealth and his penchant for deceit and betrayal.
Without any doubt, the development of Edo State and the associated empowerment of the people assumed a dangerous and highly regrettable halt like a vessel in the middle of the sea, taken over by a drunk, drugged and untrained captain since the assumption of office by the current administration of Godwin Obaseki. Indeed, the development of the state went down to its lowest ebbs and laid disdainful in the mud, as Obaseki continues junketeering with his laptop loaded with Edo treasures.
Edo State that hitherto turned into a project site amidst excellent government policies and implementation during the tenure of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has since witnessed a deliberate nosedive with all watching with arms akimbo in perturbation in the face of infrastructural decay and institutional breakdown, culminating in a state of total despair, frustration, anger, pains, lamentations and unending disenchantment of the people of the state.
It is therefore understandably rejoicing to acknowledge the opportunity which the democratic system of government practiced in Nigeria has offered Edo State, to renounce and be delivered out of the nefarious doldrums, disgraceful backwardness, calamitous and monstrous regime and tendencies of Obaseki and his cohorts in malgovernance . It is an opportunity provided for the state and its citizens to reject anything, everything or anyone that is associated with Obaseki, ranging from himself, his party and any candidate sponsored by his party or sponsored by another party with any form of alliance with Godwin Obaseki, the current Edo State Maximum Ruler. In fact, the ticket offered by Godwin Obaseki and his party or allies for Edo 2024 should be likened to the transfusion of deadly cancerous blood into a dieing patient.
As it is, the All Progressive Congress, APC, must take the bull by the horns, work and walk on the genuine pathway that would guarantee its victory. That pathway must be totally devoid of unnecessary sentiments and ethnic clamour. The All Progressive Congress, its leaders and members must look deeply into the issues of character, capacity, commitment, experience and undoubted dexterity, in order to determine who flies the party’s flag in the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election.
This is where the batton falls on a man who has demonstrated over time, an unmatchable level of commitment and an unquenchable desire for the development of Edo State. The man that stands out and fits perfectly as well as being equiped with the desired potentials among the army of aspirants in the All Progressive Congress is Prince Clem Ikanade Agba.
Born into the family of His Royal Highness, Pius Kadiri Ikanade Agba, the Oliola of Uzanu in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, Prince Clem Agba went through the rudiments of intellectual development by undertaking his primary, post primary and tertiary studies that eventually saw him graduating from the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma with a prestigious BSC in Economics. His quest for academic enhancement necessitated his further studies that took him to the University of Benin, where he obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), specializing in Management, another one at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA, where he obtained yet a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), specializing in Supply Chain Management .
Prince Clem Agba’s practical work experience is again excellently outstanding as he has traversed extensively both the private and the public sectors. He went through Pegasus Industries Limited, Super Engineering Limited, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Chevron Oil Corporation in Houston and Chevron Oil Tengiz. He is clearly exceptionally brilliant, highly resourceful and his humaneness and generosity have continued to make him a rally point in many areas of life including politics, business and governance.
His intelligence , resourcefulness, courage unrepentant desire for excellence and results oriented dispositions endeared him strongly to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole when the later was the Governor of Edo State, a situation that made Comrade Oshiomhole to appoint him as a Commissioner in his 8 years in office as the state Governor. Prince Agba deployed his intellectual acumen, his wealth of experience and his total commitment to the development of Edo State. And the general results obtained, assisted in no small measures, the overall performance of that administration, which has long been accepted and acknowledged as the best performed democratically elected government Edo State has ever had till date in all ramifications.
Therefore, no one was surprised when Comrade Adams Oshiomhole promptly facilitated the nomination and appointment of Prince Clem Agba as a Minister in the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. As a Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Clem as fondly called by his numerous admirers, wasted no time, but went straight to business, displayed an uncommon leadership capacity and worked assiduously with his ‘sister’ Minister of Finance and National Planning, thereby recorded unprecedented achievements in his assignment as a Minister of State.
As part of his achievements, he did not only restore the much required national fiscal responsibility in government policies and implementation, he also facilitated and implemented the return of the National Budget to its yearly circle of January 1st to December 31st. In his hunger and thirst for the development of Edo State, he facilitated numerous infrastructural development projects in different facets to all parts of Edo State. These projects include: construction of roads, bridges, construction of drains and erosion control, provision of bore holes and electricity transformers. Others are, provision of agricultural inputs, reconstruction of additional health facilities and provision of modern hospital equipment, reconstruction of community health centers, enrollment and training of Edo indigens for Federal Government Special Intervention Programs of Empowerment, just to mention a few.
Prince Clem Agba is not only vast and experienced in the act of governance, he is also an uncommon philanthropist, who derives so much pleasures in charitable activities. Through The Clem Agba Foundation (TCAF), he has consistently provided medical facilities to indigent Edo citizens particularly those suffering from Hepatitis, it variants and other related illnesses. Apart from his medical philanthropic activities, he has over time , also engaged in other charitable works, such as award of scholarships, provision of electricity, water and other numerous humanitarian activities.
From the foregoing, it is obviously logical and wise that the leaders and members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, should in unison and in one accord, identify, recognize and acknowledge Prince Clem Ikanade Agba as the brilliant chance the party has to win the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election. This choice would without doubt, positively and advantageouly align the choice of the APC with the desire of Edo people to rescue and return the state to the highway of development. That would pave the way for human capacity realization and that shall surely catapult Edo to its known state of prosperity, peace and tranquility.
