The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to the recent admission made by the Tinubu Legal Team regarding the inclusion of the inscription, “Tinubu Presidential Legal Team ‘TPLT'” on their copy of the judgment.
The PDP found this admission to be self-incriminating and reinforcing the widespread suspicion of premeditated manipulation by the APC.
In an official statement, the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, disclosed that the party had conducted a thorough examination of the contentious header on the Certified True Copies (CTC) of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) judgment currently circulating.
Ologunagba asserted that the hasty admission by the TPLT regarding the inclusion of their team’s name on the CTC appeared to be a desperate attempt to deflect public scrutiny and preempt further revelations.
Ologunagba pointed out that the PDP, along with the majority of Nigerians, remained dissatisfied with the explanations provided by the Tinubu Legal Team.
This dissatisfaction was compounded by the findings of additional examinations and expert analyses, which suggested that the documents were not scanned and that the TPLT inscriptions were not watermarks.
Instead, they appeared to be default headers typically generated by the document’s author.
The PDP demanded that the Tinubu Legal Team should clarify how an apparent default header from their computer system could be considered a watermark. Ologunagba urged the team to disclose critical details, such as the precise time they received their CTC on Friday, September 8, 2023, the specific time the ‘watermark’ was applied to the document, the electronic device used for this ‘watermarking,’ and the PDF file employed in the said process.
These disclosures were deemed necessary for independent analysis and transparency.
The PDP called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to address the matter transparently, considering the party’s previous reputation for manipulative practices.
