APC Primary Election: House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere Loses Return Bid in Edo

House of Representatives Majority Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere has lost his bid for re-election after placing third in the All Progressives Congress primary for Owan Federal Constituency.

Returning Officer Kelvin Muhammed announced the results at the party’s Afuze office on Saturday.

Former Commissioner for Mining Andrew Ijegbai won with 3,695 votes. Abdul Oroh came second with 1,740 votes, while Ihonvbere polled 1,005 votes. Folly Ogidegbe and Stewart scored 505 and 642 votes respectively. Total votes cast were 7,587.

Ijegbai commended the party for what he called a transparent process and pledged to represent the constituency effectively if elected in 2027.

In another contest, Rep. Eseosa Iyawe of Oredo Federal Constituency also lost his re-election bid. Dr. Paddy Iyamu won the APC ticket with 7,088 votes.

The results were captured in a report by Sunday Vanguard newspaper.
