Osun’s first lady urges women participation in agriculture to bolster food security

Women in Osun and Nigeria have been urged to actively participate in agriculture to enhance food security in the country.

Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke, the wife of the Osun State Governor, made this call during a day seminar organized for women in agriculture as part of the “Scope of the Renewed Hope Initiative,” an initiative led by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Mrs. Adeleke emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in agriculture, highlighting its potential to address economic challenges, malnutrition, and unemployment.

She stressed that women’s participation in agriculture could provide a significant source of income and revenue, leading to an improved standard of living and reduced reliance on processed and unhealthy foods, ultimately benefiting people’s health.

During the seminar held at the Multi-purpose Hall of the State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs. Adeleke also emphasized the importance of education in fostering a better society.

She assured that her husband, Senator Ademola Adeleke, placed a high value on the well-being and development of women and girls in the society and was committed to supporting their growth.

Deaconess Olusola Adewusi, the wife of the Deputy Governor of Osun State, lauded the seminar, acknowledging agriculture as a profitable business that should be taken seriously to combat hunger in homes and the entire country.

She noted that technological advancements had made agricultural business more accessible and efficient.

Alhaja Monsurat Ibrahim, the resource person, at the programme, expressed appreciation for the domestication of the “Renewed Hope Initiative” in Osun State by the wife of the Governor.

She viewed it as a positive step in empowering women in agriculture.

The Iyaloja General of Osun State, Chief Mrs. Mary Oyebode, and other speakers also commended the governor’s wife for prioritizing the well-being of the masses through such initiatives, affirming that the present administration in Osun State is dedicated to the welfare of its citizens.
