Finally, a senior government official has confirmed the appointment Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, former UN under secretary-general, as President Muhammadu Buhari’s new Chief of Staff.
Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, announced the appointment of Gambari at the federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.
Gambari replaced Abba Kyari who died on April 17 from COVID-19 complications.
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, also confirmed the appointment of Prof. Ibrahim Gambari as New Chief of Staff to the President.
Prof. Gambari is from Kwara state. He was minister of external affairs from 1984 to 1985 under Buhari’s military regime.
He also served as the under secretary-general of the UN and special adviser to the secretary-general on Africa between 1999 and 2005.
