It is a well-known Yoruba proverb that the work you learn and the skill you acquire will never betray you when survival matters. Betrayal, indeed, if that is the right word. Simply put, the adage is saying that your profession, if practised decently, will sustain you.

Sufuyan is a classical example of a man who set aside other money-making professions and chose instead to walk the hard and rugged road of journalism.
Sufuyan Ojeifo is a renowned Nigerian journalist, a brilliant one; publisher, and media expert. He serves as the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Conclave, an online newspaper. Ojeifo has built a reputation for incisive writing, sharp insights, and meticulous editing. His journalistic contributions have left a lasting impact on the Nigerian media landscape.
He writes thought-provoking articles and columns on politics, governance, and social issues, all incisively aimed at moulding society for good governance.
His writing is characterised by clarity of thought and depth of insight. I personally admire his literary style, and none of his articles in The Conclave or elsewhere on social media escapes my eye.
I came to know him when he briefly served as Media Assistant in the last administration. His humility belies his level of intelligence and the several years of experience he brings to journalism.
Ojeifo has worked with prominent media outlets, consistently showcasing his expertise in reporting and analysis. His youthful looks could pass him for a fresh graduate dusting off his certificate in search of a career pathway. But this is far from the case.
At 59 today, his life has just begun. My admonition is that he should continue steadfastly on the path of discipline, integrity, and courage in journalism.
I am indeed proud of you, as are your other peers. The country is proud of you for your services.
Happy birthday.
