The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 4,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu said the deployment aims to protect lives, property, and critical national assets before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.
Personnel from specialized units, including the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, Crack Squad, and Agro Rangers, have been positioned across the FCT. Undercover operatives from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive unit were also mobilized to sweep for improvised explosive devices.
Security teams are stationed at Eid prayer grounds, mosques, malls, markets, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces, as well as areas housing critical infrastructure. Black spots and uncompleted buildings known to harbor criminal elements are also under surveillance.
Odumosu directed area commanders and divisional officers to work closely with other security agencies and warned personnel against harassment, intimidation, and accidental discharge. He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and avoid boarding commercial vehicles with tinted glasses or unidentified “one chance” vehicles.
The commandant assured Muslim faithful of adequate security and called on residents to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with security agencies..0
