The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has achieved remarkable success in 2024 through its National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), recovering over N8.8 billion and being recognized as the Best Cybercrime Unit in Africa by INTERPOL.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the NPF-NCCC successfully recovered N8, 821,001,881.80, 115,237.91 USDT, and $84,000, which were restituted to victims of cybercrime, showcasing the unit’s commitment to justice and cybersecurity.
The unit also arrested over 751 individuals for cyber-related offenses and confiscated 685 devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and servers, alongside properties such as houses, plots of land, and vehicles used in criminal activities.
In recognition of these efforts, the NPF-NCCC was awarded the top position among 54 African countries by INTERPOL’s Cybercrime Directorate in Singapore.
This accolade highlights the unit’s dedication to combating cyber threats and enhancing the safety of citizens in the digital sphere.
Continuing its vigilance, the unit recently arrested four suspects—Douglass Victor, Egbo Efe Martins, Lucky Adesunloye, and Ndifreke Joseph Moody—for various cyber-related offenses.
The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, remains resolute in its fight against cybercrime, urging citizens to stay vigilant and practice safe online behavior to strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity framework.
