National President of a socio-political pressure group, BRACED Union, comprising the six South-South geopolitical zone’s States of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta States(BRACED), High Chief Wehere Monday, has asked Biafra not to include the South-South zone in the mapping of Biafra state.

He urged Biafra apologists to desist from including any part of the South-South zone’s states into their proposed Biafra enclave.

He made the call as a fallout from an emergency congress of the Union which held virtually on its platforms on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

He frowned at the recurring trend of Biafra proponents craftily including Niger Delta ethnic nationalities into the Biafra map.

BRACED UNION is a socio-political pressure group in the vanguard of regional development of the six South-South states of the nation.

The President described the trend as disturbing, emphasising that “no part of the South-South Region should be added to their Biafra map as BRACED States are independent of the South-East which is primarily made up of Igbo tribes, stressing that the BRACED states are not Igbos.

The BRACED Union’s President, who also spoke on the current moves by the Federal Government at re-introducing regional governments as federating units of the nation as part of the restructuring policy, commended the Federal Government for the executive bills to the National Assembly to that effect.

The Union also lauded the ongoing bill for the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), appealing that an experienced hand such as Ambassador Joe Keshi be made the First Director-General of the proposed SSDC as his experiences and exposure on regional and global development were second to none.

A statement made available to newsmen by the BRACED Union’s Director of Media and Publicity, Dr Amatare Mozimo quoted its National President as saying: “Amb. Keshi is the man for the job. He has what it takes. With the proposed SSDC under the leadership of a man like Keshi, the BRACED states shall experience fair and steady development across board.

“We believe in his capabilities. Keshi has done it with the BRACED Commission and can do it again with SSDC.

“I want to thank President Tinubu for the steps taken towards the re-introduction of regional government as this shall go a long way to give bite to talks on restructuring which has hitherto become more of campaign rhetoric than actual action.”
