In a recent clearance operation conducted on August 25, 2024, troops from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army engaged with terrorists in the general areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji, Kaduna State.
During the encounter, the troops successfully neutralized one terrorist, while others fled with suspected gunshot injuries.
Confirming the report, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 1 Division, Nigerian Army Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya said the operation led to the recovery of four AK-47 magazines, three of which were fully loaded with a total of 60 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one empty magazine.
Additionally, troops seized a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles (one destroyed), a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng handheld radio, and an Airtel recharge card valued at 5,000 naira.
Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, commended the troops for their successful operation.
He urged them to intensify efforts to make life unbearable for terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
He also praised the cooperation of residents in Kaduna, Kano, Niger, and Jigawa States, encouraging them to continue providing actionable intelligence.
