The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has undergone a significant leadership transition with the handover ceremony from outgoing Executive Secretary, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, to the new Executive Secretary, Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar.
The ceremony was attended by stakeholders from the government, private sector, civil society, and development partners.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, praised Dr. Orji for his exemplary service and commitment to transparency, institutional reform, and stakeholder collaboration during his tenure.

Akume noted that Dr. Orji’s leadership delivered historic milestones, including the acquisition and relocation to NEITI’s permanent office, expansion of industry reporting, and strengthened public disclosures.
Akume congratulated Hon. Adar on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to consolidate the gains made by NEITI and steer the organization towards even greater heights.
Adar brings a wealth of leadership experience, a strong legislative background, and a deep understanding of governance issues to his new role.

Akume reiterated NEITI’s mandate to strengthen openness, ensure responsible resource management, and sustain public trust.
He called on stakeholders to unite behind the new Executive Secretary to ensure continued progress and advancement of Nigeria’s extractive governance agenda in line with global EITI Standards.
