UPDATED: Abducted Nasarawa APC chairman found dead

Less than 24 hours after he was kidnapped, Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Philip Shekwo, has been found dead.

Chairman of Karu Local Government in the North-Central state, Samuel Akala, on Sunday, confirmed Shekwo’s death on his Facebook page.

Shekwo was abducted in a commando style by gunmen on Saturday from his residence in Bukan-Sidi, Lafia around 11 p.m.

Mr Bola Longe, Commissioner of Police in the state, confirmed the incident in Lafia.

Media reports had earlier said that Mr Shekwo was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The gunmen, in their numbers, reportedly stormed his residence , near Dunamis Church, Bukan Sidi in Lafia.

The police commissioner had confirmed the incident to journalists.

He said  that police operatives had swung into action and were combing every nook and cranny in search-and-rescue operations.

According to him, “We have covered everywhere; we sent our police to comb everywhere. We have done all the necessary things to ensure that he is rescued and by the grace of God he will be rescued.”

Latest reports, however,  have it that Shekwo has been found dead.
