Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, July 19, 2021 overruled a no-case submission made by Murtala Nyako, a former governor of Adamawa State who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes commission, EFCC, for a N29billion fraud.
Others being prosecuted alongside Nyako are his son, Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako; Abubakar Aliyu and Zulkifikk Abba.
They are being prosecuted on a 37-count charge of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N29billion.
The defendants had filed a no-case submission after the prosecution finished calling its witnesses, urging the court to dismiss the charges against them on the grounds that the prosecution failed to link them to the alleged crimes.
But the court, in its ruling on Monday, dismissed the no-case submission and urged them to enter their defence.
