In the firefight, 2 kidnappers were neutralised. Others escaped with gunshot wounds. During the raid, one suspect reportedly fell from the roof/ceiling of the building where the family was kept.

The family was rescued unhurt and later reunited with relatives.

–“Gratitude to God and Nigerians”–

Speaking for the family on Sunday, Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, said: “We are delighted to announce that the victims have been rescued safely and are in good condition.”

The Adelabu family thanked President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, the Inspector-General of Police, Oyo Police Command, DSS leadership in Abuja and Oyo, APC leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and Nigerians who prayed and supported them.

“We are particularly touched by the overwhelming outpouring of solidarity through visits, calls, messages, and prayers. Your support provided strength during one of the most challenging moments of our lives,” Awogboro said.

–Call for collective action against insecurity–

While celebrating the rescue, the family urged Nigerians not to forget others still in captivity.

“This experience has shown that insecurity transcends partisan politics, ethnicity, religion, and social status. It is a common enemy that requires collective vigilance and cooperation,” the statement read.

They added: “Together, we can build a nation where every citizen feels safe. With sustained support for our security agencies, Nigeria can and will become a safer place for all.”

The rescued mother and her twins are reportedly in good condition and receiving medical attention.
