A fire incident at the official Lodge of Deputy Governor of Ekiti State has destroyed property worth millions of Naira.
Reports said that the fire incident occurred about 2:30am on Monday, March 4, 2024.
But, it could not be confirmed whether the Deputy Governor Mrs. Monisade Afuye was at the Lodge when the fire broke out.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency have however assessed the situation to ascertain the cause and extent of the  damage cause by the fire.
Sharing photos from the scene, NEMA via its X handle on Monday, March 4, wrote: “Sequel to the alert received about a fire incident which occurred at about [sic] 2:30 am on Monday 4th March 2024, the officials of Ekiti Operations Office and Ekiti SEMA conducted an assessment of the lodge to determine the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
“It was suspected that the fire occurred as a result of the power surge. Many properties have been destroyed by the fire incident.”
