An Ibadan-based preacher, Apostle Oluwarotimi Adeyeye of the Clear Revelation Ministry, has prophesied that former president can return to Aso Rock on the wings of the 2027 general election.

According to the cleric, former President Goodluck Jonathan could return to Aso Rock if he chose to contest.

Adeyeye said, “God can still bring him back to office once more if Nigeria still stands as a nation.”

The preacher, who once predicted the impeachment and eventual reinstatement of former Oyo State governor Rashidi Ladoja, said Jonathan remained a strong contender and could run on the platform of any registered political party.

Speaking during a press briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Adeyeye praised Jonathan’s past decisions, especially his refusal to legalise same-sex marriage despite foreign pressure, and his decision to step down peacefully in 2015.

“It would have been war and bloodshed if he refused to leave the office,” he added.

Adeyeye recalled warning Jonathan in 2013 that he might be the last PDP president.

However, he insisted that divine intervention could still pave the way for Jonathan’s return in 2027.

Meanwhile, discussions within the Peoples Democratic Party have also kept Jonathan’s name in the air.

The party’s national financial secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro, recently said Jonathan could be given an automatic ticket if he meets certain conditions.

Jonathan, on his part, has been vocal about electoral reforms.

He has urged Nigeria to adopt a more independent process for appointing the next INEC chairman as Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure draws to a close.

He also called for stricter party discipline and faster resolution of electoral disputes to rebuild trust in Nigeria’s democracy.

As the 2027 race approaches, Adeyeye’s prophecy has further fueled speculations about whether Jonathan will stage a comeback or remain on the sidelines of Nigerian politics. [With GWG report]
