Independence Day: FG formally announces October 1 as public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 60th Independence.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the formal announcement on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

He congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of the country’s Diamond Jubilee and assured them of government’s commitment to the socio-economic transformation of the country.

The minister’s announcement  and greetings were contained in the statement signed on his behalf  by the Permanent  Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah.

Titled, “FG Declares Thursday, October 1, 2020, Public Holiday To Mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary”, the minister was quoted in the statement  to  have praised Nigeria and Nigerians for the feat achieved in the economy, education and, the creative sector, among others.
