The 2024 Edo State PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, has expressed grief over the death of Chief Dan Orbih, South-South Vice Chairman of the Nyesom Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Chief Orbih, popularly known as Kulukulu 1, died on Monday at the age of 64.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ighodalo described the late PDP chieftain as a man he held in high regard despite political differences within the party.
“I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Chief Dan Orbih, Kulukulu 1,” Ighodalo said.
“Regardless of our differences, we shared a genuine warmth and mutual respect, and I will remember him with much affection.”
The former Edo governorship candidate extended his condolences to Orbih’s family, friends and political associates.
“My deep and sincere condolences to his lovely wife, his family, and all those who loved him. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he added.
Chief Dan Orbih, a former PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South, was a prominent voice in Edo and national politics and played a key role in party affairs in the region until his death.
Tributes have continued to pour in from across the political divide, with leaders from both the Wike and Atiku camps acknowledging his contributions to the PDP.
Ighodalo’s message is one of the first from within the Edo PDP to bridge the factional divide since Orbih’s passing.
