As the July 16 governorship election is gathering momentum in Osun State, the Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization (SAACO) is alleging that officials of the Governor Gboyega Oyetola/APC government is collaborating with a factional leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), on a plot to thwart the will of electorate in the election.
This was made known in a press statement by the Media and Publicity Directorate of the SAACO, signed by Prince Diran Odeyemi and made available to The Conclave.
The statement said “We are in possession of a detailed plan to impersonate policemen with thugs already prepared by the factional NURTW leader, Asiri Eniba, and cause them to kidnap, harass and intimidate opposition politicians and coerce voters to vote Oyetola at the poll.
“The meeting to perfect this anti-democratic plot held two days ago at a secret location, with top officials in the Oyetola government, including a former Commissioner of Police, in attendance.”
Recall that a few weeks ago, there were reports that officials in the Oyetola government planned to foist Asiri Eniba as the NURTW leader in the State, but had to step down the plan following outcry that such could plunge the state into crisis.
“We are aware that this fresh plot is another condition for Asiri Eniba to take the leadership of the NURTW.
“We call on security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Police Force, to immediately put in place measures that will enable Osun people to identify real police from the fake ones. This will avert confusion and doubts in the Nigerian Police those in Oyetola government are trying to sow in the noble Force.
“As a Campaign Organization, we warn agents of the Oyetola government to eschew plans at negatively influencing the upcoming governorship election as we will mobilize Osun people to resist any attempt to thwart their evil plot.
“Osun people are prepared to elect a governor who is truly their own, in whom they can confidently invest their trust. No one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to change this,” the organisation said.
