Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State said the All Progressives Congress (APC) needed a leader that would unite every member of the party.

According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel-Berje, Governor Sani Bello stated this when he received a former Governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, on a visit to formally declare his intention to contest for the National Chairmanship position of the APC.

He said that the party was having its challenges hence the need for an experienced and credible leader that would carry everyone along.

“I want us to have a stable party with a leader that would bring everyone together”, he said.

Governor Sani Bello described Senator Sheriff as an experienced politician being a former Governor of Borno State and Senator who has the capacity and ability to unite members of the party.

While assuring him of his support, the Governor, however, urged him to accept the outcome of the election when the time comes.

Earlier, Sen. Sheriff explained that his visit was in recognition of Governor Sani Bello’s position as a high-ranking member of the party owing to his leadership position at both state and national levels of the party.

He said if he eventually emerged as the chairman, he would unite all members and treat them with respect.

“If I become the chairman, this party will be united.

“A party cannot be a party unless you unite everybody together, you must speak to people, make them understand that everyone is equal in the party.”
