The Guild of Online Corporate Publishers has commiserated with Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, over the death of his mother, Mrs. Laurita Nwakaego Agbo.
Mrs. Agbo, née Ortuanya, died on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu.
In a condolence letter signed by GOCOP President Danlami Nmodu, mni, and General Secretary Sufuyan Ojeifo, the guild described the deceased as a matriarch whose life was defined by humility, generosity, and service to humanity.
“From your statement, it is clear that your mother was more than a parent—she was a devoted Catholic, a compassionate mother, and a pillar of strength whose philanthropic activities and community-centered initiatives touched countless lives,” the letter stated.
GOCOP said tributes from family, friends and community leaders in Ohodo community and Amufi village pointed to a legacy of deep faith, peaceful disposition and selfless dedication to the welfare of others.
While noting that her passing leaves “a profound vacuum,” the guild said it takes solace in the enduring impact of her kindness, guidance and motherly counsel.
The body prayed for the repose of Mrs. Agbo’s soul and for strength for the Agbo family to bear the loss, assuring Dr. Agbo of its prayers and solidarity as funeral arrangements are made.
Mrs. Agbo will be buried in her home community at a date to be announced by the family.
