The family of Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, has announced the death of his mother, Mrs. Laurita Nwakaego Agbo.
Mrs. Agbo, née Ortuanya, died on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu, after a brief illness, Dr. Agbo said in a statement on Sunday.
The commissioner described his mother as a devoted Catholic, compassionate mother, and pillar of strength to her family and community. He said she was widely admired for her humility, generosity, and lifelong commitment to serving others.
Through philanthropic activities and community-centered initiatives, Mrs. Agbo impacted many lives in Ohodo community and Amufi village, where she remained a respected figure and source of inspiration.
Family, friends, associates, and community leaders have continued to pay tribute, remembering her deep faith, peaceful disposition, and dedication to the welfare of others. They noted that her passing leaves a profound vacuum in the Agbo family and among those who benefited from her kindness and counsel.
Dr. Agbo thanked well-wishers for their support and prayers, and prayed for her peaceful repose.
