Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, calling him a “dedicated and highly patriotic” leader and urging Southern Nigeria to unite behind the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Fubara spoke while declaring open a meeting of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt.

“In football, the saying goes that no coach changes a winning team. Therefore, Nigerians have no choice but to support President Tinubu at this crucial time and work together to re-elect him in 2027,” Fubara said.

He cited the “transformation of our battered economy,” an “infrastructural revolution,” and the coastal road project across the South as gains of Tinubu’s first three years. “With him in the saddle, Nigerians should be rest assured that the nation is in safe hands,” he said.

Fubara said challenges remain in some regions but expressed trust in Tinubu’s “dedication to safeguarding our nation, transforming the economy and delivering equitable development to all regions.”

Welcoming the monarchs, Fubara said their presence showed Rivers is “peaceful and ready to host high-profile events” and affirmed Southern unity. “Although we are ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse… we are all committed to being part of an ever-indivisible Nigeria.”

He urged Southern cooperation for “sustainable peace, security, and development,” adding that the region can achieve more through collaboration with the Federal Government.
