Punch newspapers reporter, Okechukwu Nnodim, who was abducted on February 3 together with two other persons at their houses in Kubwa, Abuja, has been released by their abductors.

Nnodim’s wife, Mrs Oluchi Nnodim, confirmed the release of the journalist on Sunday.

She said her husband was released together with the two boys at midnight on Saturday.

According to her: “My husband came back home around midnight but he is still sleeping.

“I am happy he is alive. I thank God for what He has done for me. He did not allow the enemy to laugh at me.

“I am grateful to God Almighty for this miracle.”

Oluchi was full of thanks to everyone who had contributed, in one way or another, in ensuring the release of her husband.

She prayed that the Almighty God would reward them bountifully for their efforts.

The kidnapers had stormed their apartments after scaling the fence on February 3 and abducted them.

They had reportedly fired several shots, apparently into the air, as no one had yet to be reported either dead or injured in the operation.

Consequent upon the abduction of Nnodim and the two boys, the kidnappers had reportedly demanded cash ransom of N10 million.

It had yet to be confirmed as of press time if money exchanged hands and how much it was before the abductors released them.
