The coast is now clear for the payment of the remaining 50 per cent balance of severance package for former staff members of Nigeria Airways.
This was sequel to the signing of the relevant documents by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed.
At a recent meeting of the Payment Committee on Wednesday 15th July 2020 in Abuja, PICA rounded off with all the processes necessary to commence payment transfer as scheduled.
The approval by the minister will now allow the Accountant General’s office to effect transfers into the individual beneficiaries’ account.
“Having scaled this important hurdle, the Accountant General’s office is therefore requested/pleading for a few days for some due diligence after which the transfers will start off”, Engr. Lookman Animashaun , President, AUGA said in a news update to his colleagues.
He explained further: “Considering the fact that Thursday 30th and Friday 31st July 2020 are public holidays, this week working days end tomorrow 29th.
“We will therefore leave the first week of August for any/every necessary process to be done by the AG’s office as requested.
“In view of above therefore, We look forward to this commencement on or before Tuesday 11th August 2020.
“We know that everyone waited anxiously for the announced 27th of July.
“Dear colleagues, we urge everyone to kindly note and appreciate the fact that the UNION is not in absolute control of these timing.
“We are however passionately pleading for a little more patience as we are following up closely and relentlessly.”
