A powerful explosion shook the city of Jos on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through surrounding communities.
The incident led to deployment of many security personnel in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
According to witnesses, the blast occurred around 10:30 am. near the densely- populated Terminus market area.
“I was nearby when I heard a loud bang. I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying,” said an eyewitness.
As of press time, the extent of the damage, fatalities remained unclear, but witnesses described scenes of destruction and chaos as gory.
Emergency services, including the police, fire department, and ambulance teams, have reportedly rushed to the scene to provide assistance.
The Plateau State Police Command had yet to make a public statement on the incident as of press time.
Attempts to reach the Command’s spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off.
