The Timi of Ede in Osun, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, has urged political leaders to emulate the virtue of keeping promises, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Oba Lawal made the call in his Eid-el-Kabir message issued on Tuesday in Osogbo and signed by his media aide, Dapo Akinyele.
The traditional ruler noted that the Eid-el-Kabir festival is a period for sober reflection on the sanctity of promise and the rewards of faithfulness, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
He said adherence to the principle of keeping promises would address a significant proportion of the nation’s challenges, urging political leaders at all levels to embrace the virtue.
The traditional ruler also called on governments at all levels to intensify efforts to curb insurgency and other criminal activities across the country.
According to him, peaceful coexistence remains essential for strengthening the nation’s economy.
Oba Lawal further offered prayers for President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Ademola Adeleke in their efforts to improve the welfare of Nigerians and the people of Osun.
He congratulated sons and daughters of Ede, urging them to remain peaceful and tolerant wherever they reside.
