Eid-el-Kabir: CNA Ogunlana urges National Assembly staff memberd to embrace sacrifice, loyalty, and professionalism

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, has called on staff of the National Assembly to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration as a period of deep reflection, sacrifice, loyalty and renewed commitment to service.

Ogunlana, in his goodwill message ahead of the Islamic festival, reminded members of staff that Eid-el-Kabir remains one of the most significant spiritual seasons that emphasizes obedience, faithfulness, selflessness and sacrifice — virtues he noted are equally essential in the discharge of public service responsibilities.

According to him, the spirit of sacrifice should not only be confined to religious observance, but must also reflect in workplace conduct, institutional dedication and service to the nation.

He explained that a truly sacrificial worker is one who is prepared to go the extra mile, within the confines of established rules and regulations, for the growth, stability and progress of the organization, stressing that the National Assembly as a critical democratic institution requires personnel who are committed to excellence and institutional advancement.

The Clerk noted that the demands of legislative administration require discipline, dedication and uncommon professionalism from staff, especially considering the strategic role they play in supporting lawmakers and strengthening democratic governance in the country.

Ogunlana further admonished staff to imbibe the virtues of loyalty and faithfulness in their daily responsibilities, describing them as indispensable ingredients for effective and efficient service delivery.

He emphasized that the National Assembly workforce must continually promote selflessness above personal gratification, explaining that true satisfaction should come from contributing meaningfully to the growth and integrity of the institution.

According to him, the National Assembly remains a larger collective responsibility that must be protected and projected positively through hard work, integrity and commitment to duty.

While acknowledging the prevailing economic realities and difficult times confronting workers and citizens across the country, Ogunlana assured staff that management is not oblivious to their challenges.

He appealed for patience, understanding and continued cooperation, stating that efforts are ongoing to cushion the effects of the economic situation and ensure that staff welfare receives adequate attention.

The Clerk stressed that maintaining a motivated and responsible workforce remains a priority for the management of the National Assembly.

He also charged staff to remain steadfast in character, competence and zeal while carrying out their responsibilities, particularly in their interactions and engagements with politicians and lawmakers.

According to him, working within the legislative environment demands high ethical standards, emotional intelligence and professional maturity to ensure that support services to legislators are delivered effectively and responsibly.

Ogunlana further urged workers to remain law-abiding and uphold the civil service rules and regulations guiding their operations, insisting that professionalism and institutional discipline must remain the hallmark of the National Assembly bureaucracy.

“We must continue to make the National Assembly a great institution where professionalism, integrity and strong character are nurtured for the benefit of lawmakers, the institution and the country at large,” he stated.

The Clerk also advised members of staff to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival responsibly and reflectively with their families and loved ones, while avoiding actions capable of undermining the sanctity of the season.

He prayed for journey mercies for those travelling during the festivities and wished all staff and Nigerians a peaceful, safe and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
