Business mogul, Captain Hosa Okunbo (Capt. Hosa) has opened up on his expectations from the Saturday Edo governorship election.
Speaking with Reuben Abati on Arise TV’s “The Morning Show”, the billionaire philanthropist categorically said Obaseki had created three opponents for himself in his quest for re-election.
He specifically mentioned himself, Adams Oshiomhole and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as Obaseki’s creations, whereas the real candidate of the APC is Ize-Iyamu.
He described Obaseki’s administration as monstrous and draconian.
According to him, “Obaseki on his own created three candidates for himself: one candidate real and two imagined candidates.
“Instead of him to concentrate and face the candidate he was supposed to face, he made Adams Oshiomhole and Captain Hosa his opponents.”
Capt. Hosa berated Obaseki for demarketing Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who was his benefactor.
He also decried the manner and stratagem Obaseki used in deploying ethnic sentiments in Benin to sway the Benin people.
According to him, “The same people who gave Adams Oshiomhole the name ‘Oshio Baba’ is the one he has decided to demarket among them.”
Capt. Hosa, however, said the market people and the masses were solidly behind Oshiomhole, adding that Oshiomhole has been going round markets from ward to ward, ” reconnecting” with them and apologising for supporting Obaseki and installing him on them as governor.
He said Oshomhole’s performance was clear for the masses and the downtrodden to see, explaining that Obaseki had played smart by capturing the elites and their consensus through appointment of their children in his government.
He said he was a victim also until he resolved the situation on ground in Edo in favour of the masses and suffering people- petty farmers, market women, artisans and the large army of unemployed youths who are suffering under the government- and he had to withdraw his daughter, whom Obaseki requested for, from the government.
He said Obaseki had a formidable propaganda machine with which he churns out misinformation and outright falsehood about what his government is doing and not doing as well as about his perceived and real opponents.
He also said that assembling 600 persons in an office to man the computers and deploy the social media handles in maligning and defaming leaders of the state, including himself, was Obaseki’s funny idea of how to create 200,000 jobs that he promised during his 2016 electioneering.
Capt . Hosa stated that there was nothing concrete on ground to show as Obaseki’s achievements in the last four years.
