Ebola cases in Uganda rise to seven after two health workers are infected in Kampala

Uganda’s health ministry confirmed two more Ebola cases on Monday, bringing the national total to seven. Both patients are Ugandan health workers at a private facility in Kampala.

The ministry said both are receiving care at a designated treatment unit. Response teams are tracing everyone who had contact with them.

Three other cases were confirmed on Saturday.

The outbreak is linked to the Bundibugyo strain and centers in Ituri province in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, which borders Uganda. The World Health Organization declared it a public health emergency of international concern on Sunday.
