Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has instructed the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to secure the repair of an electricity transmission tower.
In a statement, Director, Information and Public Relations of the ministry Henshaw Ogubike said this action aligned with directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), following the recent grid collapse caused by third-party interference, which led to widespread power outages across Northern Nigeria.
In response to this incident, the Minister emphasized the importance of protecting critical national infrastructure and directed the CDS to ensure the safety of workers conducting repairs.
The aim is to restore functionality to the grid swiftly, safeguarding the well-being of affected communities.
The Minister also appealed for patience and understanding from Nigerians, especially those impacted by the outages, as efforts to address the situation are actively underway.
