Security operatives in Benin Republic have reportedly arrested Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, more popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in Cotonou.
Igboho was reported to have been apprehended on Monday night while allegedly trying to escape to Germany.
He has been in hiding since he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS, after operatives invaded his Sooka, Ibadan residence, killing two of his boys in the raid and arresting 13 others who were paraded in Abuja.
He was accused of stockpiling arms and ammunition.
The DSS also displayed the arms, ammunition and sundry exhibits which its operatives purportedly recovered from Igboho’s residence during the bloody night raid.
Spokesperson of the DSS, Peter Afunnaya had advised Igboho who was immediately declared wanted to, in his interest, turn himself in at the nearest security office to him. Igboho had ignored the advice.
The Yoruba Nation agitator, according to a report by Saharareporters was arrested Monday night as he tried to secretly escape through Cotonou to Germany.
Quoting a source privy to the development, Sahara Reporters reports that: “Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou. He was arrested about an hour ago.
“He was supposed to travel to Germany through Cotonou this night (Monday, July 19, 2021). He wanted to leave Africa through Cotonou. He was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou.
“They are planning to bring him back to Nigeria.”
