COVID-19: NCDC reports 1,444 new cases, 15 deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Sunday night, announced 1,444 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-901, Plateau-136, Kaduna-57, FCT-54, Ebonyi-53, Akwa Ibom-52, Nasarawa-32, Osun-29, Ogun-28, Imo-16, Oyo-16, Edo-15, Kano-14, Rivers-10, Ekiti-7, Borno-6, Abia-5, Benue-4, Yobe-4, Kebbi-3 and Anambra-2.

The agency said 15 deaths, the highest daily figure yet, occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,420 on Saturday to 1,435 on Sunday.

The data from the agency disclosed that 3,950 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 89,317 while 19,635 cases were still active in the country.

NCDC further explained that the discharges on Sunday included 717 community recoveries in Lagos State and a backlog of 2,825 community recoveries in FCT managed in line with guidelines.
