A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of two properties belonging to former Senate President Bukola Saraki in Ikoyi area of Lagos.

A counsel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nnaemeka Omewa, had sought the order for the seizure.

The properties are located at 17A McDonald Road, Ikoyi, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos.

The EFCC told the court that the properties were suspected to have been acquired through “proceeds of unlawful activities”. Reports in May had suggested that the anti-graft agency had seized the houses.

The houses in question were the subject of Saraki’s trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) at the beginning of his Senate Presidency.

The suit was later dismissed for lack of evidence. EFCC is investigating Saraki’s activities while he was governor of Kwara State.
