In a military operation on Wednesday, March 26, 2024, Nigerian Army troops engaged in counter-terrorism activities alongside Hybrid Forces achieved significant success.

The operation, conducted in the North East region, specifically targeted identified Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province enclaves within the Gori general area in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

During the operation, a single terrorist threat was neutralized, and a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and rustled cattle was recovered.

The confrontation involved a fierce firefight, culminating in the successful overpowering and neutralization of the terrorist threat. As a result, numerous rustled cattle were rescued, and a significant quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from the terrorists.

Among the recovered items were 2 AK-47 rifles, 38 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, AK-47 magazines, an Improvised Explosive Device, and a motorcycle.

In a separate operation conducted in Katsina State, troops engaged in offensive maneuvers against terrorist camps achieved further success.

In the Garin Rinji general area of Batsari Local Government Area, two terrorists were neutralized following a decisive gun battle.

The troops utilized superior firepower to overwhelm the insurgents, resulting in the destruction of multiple hideouts.

Additionally, two motorcycles and 25 rustled livestock were recovered during the operation.

The ongoing offensive operations in the region demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s commitment to clearing terrorist elements from the area and ensuring the safety and security of the populace.
