CAPT HOSA: SUNSET AT NOON

0
405

His day broke
A glorious dawn
1958
Trip started
Oh what joyous day
Boisterous men
It’s a boy!
Firmer feet
Momma felt
Yet another to
The brood.

And they all waited
Seven full days
They sang and danced
Dried meat
_ikpogi_ soup
from the black pot
Pounding –
His name
Idahosa

What pattering feet
Mama’s pride
Intelligent
Great achiever

The skies beckoned
The seas echoed
Motherearth boomed
He conquered all
He spared no nickle
Fortune he spread
Far and near
Rich and poor
All he touched

He set sail
Gaining speed
Awesome speed
Altitude gained
But
The seas stormed
And raged
Clouds gathered
Huge turbulence
Earth agape
Waiting to take

Heavens opened
Rains poured
From dark of night
To dead of night
The last breathe
Eyes closed
and
In 2021
Hosa blazed to glory.

Blinded by tears
Wracked sobs
We wail for he
Who sails no more
Whose wings are clipped
Our own Hosa
Whose sun set at noon.
