As the All Progressives Congress Edo State Chapter prepares for the primaries to select its flagbearer for next year’s gubernatorial elections, it is no doubt that APC has galaxy of distinguished aspirants who are very qualified to be governor. However, one man that perfectly fits into the Leadership equation that will bring about cohesion in the party and State, embark on massive provision of social amenities and infrastructures, lead Edo people with the fear of God and respect for the people of the state, embrace every progressive opinions ( for or against the government) , invest in providing security and welfare of the people and make Edo State proud like Professor Ambrose Alli, Dr S.O Ogbemudia ( both of blessed memories) and recently Comrade Adams Oshiomhole did is Prince CLEM AGBA.
In looking for a fitting candidate that will replace Obaseki who had served two terms and is on his way out , the APC Leadership and membership must not make the mistake the Israelites made when they first demanded to have a king through Samuel.
Indeed, they got a King Saul, and for those who are familiar with the reign of Saul over Israel , you need no telling. (Read I Samuel Chapters 8 and 9.)
What is it that Prince CLEM AGBA has not got?. He began his leadership and management journey as the head of a multinational Oil company and started his political journey as a two time Commissioner under the reign of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and later became the minister of State for Budget and National Planning.
From Edo North through Edo Central and down to Edo South he enjoys considerable and genuine followership and support on account of his amiable personality, loyalty to the party and contributions to the development of the State. He is indeed, a personage that epitomizes the very essence of party loyalty, dedication, consistency and leadership. These are the attributes that any person seeking to change the narrative for APC and Edo State should possess. Politics being an examination which one doesn’t write for himself requires the collaboration of stakeholders and an Agba’s candidacy will galvanise all party members to achieve victory. Politics is not a ONE MAN business. PCA is a Team player and he is patriotic. He will uphold the virtues of integrity for which he is widely acclaimed.
PCA is an Edo man through and through. In all his life endeavors, he has never shown any desperation as he believes that power belongs to God. He will give it to whosoever he delights in. He always been elevated on the basis of his competence and has never gotten anything or position in life by fighting or showing desperation.
He worked with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole blamelessly with the latter ( Comrade Adams Oshiomhole) once referring to him as the best Commissioner and was basically one of the few commissioners who served the complete 8 years without betraying Oshiomhole or showing incompetence in his duties. The new Benin-city and beautification projects of comrade Adams Oshiomhole which was one of the great achievement of that government was the work of PCA as the then Commissioner for environment. The street cleaning or public work programs that helped to give employment to many of our people in Edo was the work of the ministry of environment under PCA. The huge investment in erosion control programs under comrade Adams Oshiomhole government was the work of PCA as the Commissioner for Environment. Etc His impacts and contributions to that government was priceless. This was why Comrade Adams Oshiomhole never dropped him unlike others because he was an asset to him, and when opportunity came for him to recommend a competent hand for minister, PCA was not the closest to him at that time, but to him PCA was the most competent and trusted person he can recommend and he didn’t betray this trust.
How can a man who served diligently with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and was part of the great programs of that government not make a good Governor? He will. While others were busy betraying Comrade Adams Oshiomhole either by aligning with Godwin Obaseki or the cabals at the President, PCA remained loyal and dedicated to his master and APC by contributing to its wellbeing, galvanizing party members and providing leadership when it matters most. How else does one serves a party? There was nothing PCA did as a minister he never consulted comrade Adams Oshiomhole. He had the opportunity of supporting his brother-in-law (Obaseki) but he chose the man who made him and the party that gave him the platform. He has a big opportunity of being elevated to a big ministry as a minister by betraying comrade Adams Oshiomhole, he choose to stand firm with him and refused to betray him.
With him there can not be inauguration of a house of assembly where majority of the members of his party will be shut out and the State will be ran without a legally constituted legislature. NEVER. With him there will be no fear that he will give our mandate to the opposition by leaving the party after winning. NEVER. With him there will be no fear of fighting and humiliating party leaders and members who worked for him to become governor. NEVER. With him there wil no fear of fighting and betraying comrade Adams Oshiomhole who represent the face of APC in Edo. NEVER. With him there will be no fear of having an aspirant who cannot engage in any form of debates or media engagements. With him there will no case of having an aspirant with certificate or other issues that can leader to disqualification. With him there will no challenge of having a candidate who cannot fund the election to a reasonable percentage before asking for him . More importantly, with him there will no fear of having a failure or tyrant as a governor as he has proven himself to be a man with competence and character.
PCA private and public service records are untainted, without blemish and absolutely clean. What else can a party ask for in its choice of a candidate? INDEED HE IS THE IDEAL CONSENSUS CANDIDATE the APC need to restore the hope of party members who have laboured for the party and Edo people who desire a government with a human face, a government that will be based on the rule of law and a government that will ensure the welfare of the people, promote peace and tranquility .
PCA will unite the people of Edo at home and in diaspora to contribute in a very systematic and strategic way to the overall development of Our State.
His passion for human capital Development and nag for details will enable him pay attention to the things that matter the most for the progress of Edo State. He is humble, diligent, self effacing and does not seek self agrandizement.
PCA IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB!
