A Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 30-year-old barber, Moses Nancwat to one year imprisonment for stealing a laptop, cellphone and N210,000 cash from a hotel.
The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to theft.
She however gave him an option of fine N50,000.
The magistrate also the convice to pay N470,000 to the complainant.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the complainant, Innocent Lemak reported the case at the “A” Division Police Station on Feb.3.

Gokwat said that the convict visited the complainant in the hotel and stole his laptop worth N173,000, phone worth N87,000 and N210,000 cash.
He said the offence contravened provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
